What a caption people answer is made of: who it is for, what is offered, and what you want them to do.

A story caption: a few seconds and one sentence

A story caption is neither a post nor a letter. It is read on the move, right after a notification nobody expected. Anything that does not fit into a few seconds will not be read.

Three things it needs

  • Who for. «For people running property channels» filters out the rest and picks up your own. Addressing everyone reaches nobody.
  • What. One concrete offer — what the person gets, not a category of services.
  • What to do. One action. Best of all, replying to the story: the box is already in front of them.

What does not work

The opening of a long text: the reader sees there is more and leaves. Intrigue without substance — «I have something for you» produces irritation, not curiosity. A list of five offers: nobody chooses from five in two seconds.

Also: a name as the only personal element. «Hi John! We offer services…» reads as a broadcast because it is one. On where personalisation helps, see name substitutions.

A link takes the person somewhere they are alone and nothing can be explained. A reply brings them to you, where a question can be answered. If you want a conversation, ask for a reply. Links belong where the other side stands on its own: a form, a booking page, an event.

How to test

Change one thing at a time — the first line, then the ask, then the image. Change everything at once and you learn nothing. And count replies, not views: a view only proves the notification arrived.

How Neurogram does this

Everything above is manual work that runs into the number of hours in a day. Neurogram does it on your own accounts and without you: it collects channels and audiences, writes comments and replies with a language model, and keeps limits and quiet hours so the accounts survive. See pricing or look at your case.
