Qualifying leads in chat without sounding like a form

The three things worth establishing before quoting, how to ask so people answer, and why a questionnaire in the first message kills the thread.

Qualifying leads in chat without sounding like a form

Qualification answers one question: is this worth your time. In text it is harder than on a call, because the other person can simply stop replying, and a repeated question reads as pressure.

What to establish

  • The job. Not what they want to buy but what they are trying to solve. It frequently turns out to be something else.
  • The timing. "Now" and "looking ahead" are different conversations, and the second should not be dragged toward payment.
  • The decision. Whether this is the person who says yes. In B2B it often is not, and that changes everything afterwards.

Budget is deliberately not on that list. Asking about money early closes threads more often than it helps; it emerges later, through scope.

How to ask

One question per message. Three in a row is a form, and people do not fill in forms in chat. One question is a conversation.

Ask about them, not about you. "What have you tried so far?" works better than "which plan are you considering?".

What not to do

Do not qualify before giving anything. Someone asks "how much is it" — answer something useful first, then ask. Otherwise it is an interrogation at the door.

Do not filter bluntly. "We only work with companies over fifty people" in the first message also removes everyone who would have grown into it.

People who do not fit

Say so, briefly and honestly, with the reason. That is remembered better than an attempt to sell the wrong thing, and those people come back when the job changes.

Where automation belongs

The opening questions are nearly identical every time, so a model can ask them. Once the answers exist, a person takes over — see when to hand a conversation to a human and why speed decides.

How Neurogram does this

Everything above is manual work that runs into the number of hours in a day. Neurogram does it on your own accounts and without you: it collects channels and audiences, writes comments and replies with a language model, and keeps limits and quiet hours so the accounts survive. See pricing or look at your case.

Do you need a sales script in text, and in what form

Scripts came from phone calls, where the other person cannot pause. In writing they can, and a transplanted script usually does harm.

When to hand a chat to a human instead of a bot
