Two words that sound technical and put beginners off. Both are about one thing: knowing which of your contacts brought the money.
What a postback is
A notification the network sends you when a target action happens through your link. You give them an address, they call it on conversion and pass back a tag you put into the link yourself.
The tag is the point. Without it you know «three conversions today». With it you know «the conversion came from chat A on copy B». That difference is the difference between guessing and managing.
What a tracker is
Software that hands out tagged links, receives postbacks and assembles the report. Dedicated services exist, but a spreadsheet is enough at the start: what matters is that you are counting at all.
What to tag in Telegram traffic
- Source. Comments, DMs, chats — separately.
- Venue. The specific channel or chat.
- Copy. Which opening variant.
- Account. Useful when you need to know whose traffic is worse.
Four tags answer nine questions out of ten. The main thing they let you catch is described in hold, approval and shaving.
