Country of registration looks like a line in a product description. In practice it sets half of your later costs and constraints.
What geo drags along
A proxy in the same country, or the account reads as stolen — see proxy geo and numbers. The time zone the account should be active in. The interface language. And audience expectations: writing to a Russian-speaking chat from an account that is Indian throughout is one more reason to report it.
Cheap destinations and why they are cheap
The easier it is to buy numbers in a country, the cheaper the accounts and the more identical accounts exist around them. Cheapness here is a direct consequence of volume, and volume means that geo gets looked at harder.
Not a prohibition — an adjustment to the maths: all else equal, a cheap account lives shorter.
When geo matters on its own terms
When the audience is local. For city chats and local business, an account from «their» country really does work better — not by magic but because active hours and language line up.
When geo barely matters
When the account only collects data and never writes to anyone. Then the only thing that counts is that the proxy matches the number.
Practical advice
