Aggregation or theft: where the line runs

What separates acceptable use of other people's posts from the other kind, and what the consequences look like.

Aggregation or theft: where the line runs

This is not a technical question, and it needs settling before you start rather than after the first complaint. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice — what follows is the practical side.

What happens

  • A complaint to Telegram. A channel can be restricted or removed on a rights holder's complaint, and the subscribers go with it.
  • A public callout. The author writes about you copying them. In a narrow field that costs more than any block: there is one reputation.
  • A legal claim. Rarer, and depends on jurisdiction and on what exactly was copied.

What rarely causes trouble

Facts belong to nobody: an event, a date, a number. Retelling the substance in your own words and adding something of your own produces your content, not a copy.

A link to the source removes some objections but not all: a channel made entirely of other people's posts with credits is still a channel of other people's posts.

What almost always causes trouble

Word-for-word copies of authored text without credit, especially where the author has a recognisable voice. And copying channels that live on selling advertising: you take their audience with their own material.

A sensible arrangement

Cloned material as a base rather than the whole channel: other people's posts keep the schedule, yours give a reason to follow you. Then complaints are unlikely and the reader does not simply move to the original — making it your own.

How Neurogram does this

Everything above is manual work that runs into the number of hours in a day. Neurogram does it on your own accounts and without you: it collects channels and audiences, writes comments and replies with a language model, and keeps limits and quiet hours so the accounts survive. See pricing or look at your case.
